Future Plans

iWay Napier extension

The iWay Napier network will connect residential areas with employment areas, schools and education centres, reserves and recreational areas.

We’re working on four off-road pathways this financial year (2016/17).

We will be extending the existing Westminster Ave pathway from Tamatea Drive to Taradale Road.

A pathway will also go across Anderson Park, through to Kennedy Road, as part of the planned Anderson Park upgrade.

Work is planned for a new pathway on the southern side of the Hawke’s Bay Expressway, between the Burness Road underpass and the intersection of Harold Holt and Bill Hercock Avenues.

We are also at the planning stage for what is currently called the County Drain pathway. This will run right along the County Drain reserve from the Prebensen Drive roundabout at the Expressway, to Harold Holt Ave, near Henry Hill School.

Future Napier routes include: the Kennedy Road arterial route, the Westminster Ave connector, and the old Tutaekuri River route.

The Westminster Ave connector will be a continuation of an existing off-road route running south from Prebensen Drive. The old Tutaekuri River route will run north-south, parallel to the Georges Drain route, and along another wide reserve area. It will link up with Ford Road, with only a short length of on road cycling required to get to the off road pathways on Prebensen Drive.
